Compliance Verification: They were concerned about whether they were truly achieving their own rigorous standards and objectives for the business and their clients.
Uniformity Across Multiple Locations: With projects spread across the country, ensuring uniform health and safety standards presented a unique set of challenges, requiring increased supervision and a tailored approach to diverse local and project-specific conditions.
Enhancing Employee Engagement: It was crucial to boost engagement and cultivate a safety culture that was not only embraced but also valued across the entire team.
Overcoming Previous Consultancy Limitations: The client had previously worked with another health and safety consultancy, yet found that the services did not lead to sustained enhancement or real improvements in health and safety practices. This experience highlighted the need for external advice that is not only effective but also practical and adaptable to the realities of on-site implementation and project management / supply-chain relationships.
Our Solutions
1. We undertook a Compliance Compass - deep dive capability assessment which involved a review of the existing documentation, work group interviews, on-location inspections and a round-table engagement and culture survey. We identified the strengths, opportunities for improvement and generated an action plan.
2. Agreed a routine project by project inspection regime - ensuring the construction projects were meeting the minimum standards expected of CPL and their clients, while adapting to the unique nature of the projects and supply chain relationships.
3. An upside to providing regular in-house support has been the development and embedding of health and safety within the organisation. Having a go-to resource (via informal conversation, regular H&S related updates, presentations, training and on-the project support) has empowered the team and enhanced everyone's confidence.
4. By taking the time to getting to know the business well from the very beginning of the relationship, Advanced Safety avoided making assumptions about how the business operates and what it values. In doing so we saved the business time and energy, ensuring they got the very most from their investment.
