Our Documentation Review looks at your health and safety system and how it aligns with relevant standards and requirements, while our Workplace Observations and Site Inspection show us how those systems work in practice.
Through Staff Interviews and Cultural Diagnostics, we understand how safety is experienced, understood and acted on by your people.
Finally, Capability Benchmarking evaluates your maturity against industry leaders using the Safe365 Index. We use the Advanced Safety Maturity Model™ v2.0 to position your organisation across four areas: Governance and Leadership, Risk and Operational Control, Systems and Documentation and Culture and Engagement. The model has five maturity levels: Ad Hoc, Foundational, Emerging, Confident and Assured.
Bringing all four of these evidence streams together gives leadership an independent view of what is working, where the real risks sit and where effort will have the greatest impact.
How it works.
1. Before the visit
We read everything. We review your existing health and safety documentation and prepare for the assessment so we can focus our time where it matters most.
2. On site
We watch and listen. From the boardroom to the floor, we observe work in practice, inspect the workplace and talk to people across the organisation. This is where we test what your system says should happen against what actually happens.
3. Findings
We find strengths and gaps. We bring together the evidence from the assessment to identify what is working, where the gaps are and which areas need attention first.
4. Ongoing
We provide an actionable roadmap. Most organisations stop once the findings are delivered. We don’t. With Compliance Compass, your Opportunities for Improvement register becomes a practical engine for driving action after the assessment. You leave with a clear 90-day roadmap and can continue with Advanced Safety for support putting the findings into practice.

How is Compliance Compass different from a standard health and safety audit?
Most audits check whether documents and processes exist. Compliance Compass goes further. We test what your system says should happen against what's actually happening in the workplace, then benchmark your capability against industry leaders. It's the same starting point as an audit, taken much further.
How long does Compliance Compass take?
You’ll receive your findings and roadmap within four working weeks. This includes the assessment report, executive findings summary, Opportunities for Improvement register, maturity position, findings session and 90-day implementation roadmap.
Do you come on-site?
Yes. Compliance Compass includes an on-site assessment where we observe work in practice, inspect the workplace and talk to people across the organisation. This sits alongside the desktop documentation review and staff interviews to give us a clearer picture of how your health and safety system works in practice.
What is Compliance Compass Lite?
Compliance Compass Lite is a documentation-only version of the diagnostic. It applies the same diagnostic lens to your documented health and safety system but does not include a site visit, workplace observations or staff interviews. It tells you what your system says, but not what your business actually does.
Who is Compliance Compass Lite for?
Lite is a good starting point if you want to understand where your documented system stands before committing to a full assessment. It can also suit businesses where most of their exposure sits in their documentation.

What standards and legislation does Compliance Compass consider?
Compliance Compass is assessed against ISO 45001:2018 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015. Where relevant, the assessment also considers the Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016, the Health and Safety at Work (Worker Engagement, Participation, and Representation) Regulations 2016 and other applicable requirements.
